About Gwendolyn Holbrow

Gwendolyn Holbrow has Bachelor’s degrees in Linguistics and Studio Art, and a certificate in Children’s Book Illustration from UCSD. She has worked as a graphic designer and fine artist, and taught art to both children and adults. She wrote a regular column on children and schools for the English-language city magazine of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and art criticism for Art New England and other art magazines.

Holbrow is a member of SCBWI, the 12×12 Challenge, and the Children’s Picture Book Critique Group at The Writers’ Loft in Hudson, MA, as well as the Amalgamated Printers Association and New England Book Artists. She enjoys working with watercolor, gouache, print and collage, which you can find on Instagram and Bluesky. And she loves medieval manuscript illumination and longs for a pet amphisbaena.
